The Story of Townsend & Schmidt Masonry

Robert Townsend and Warren Schmidt formed Townsend & Schmidt Masonry on June 1, 1957. The business became a California corporation on August 10, 1959. In January of 2003, after owning and operating the company for over a decade, Robert's son, Steve Townsend, sold the business to the current owners, Kevin MacDonald and Bruce M. Mann. Kevin has been with the company since 1981 and Bruce has been with the company since 1964.

Townsend & Schmidt Masonry specializes in commercial, industrial and public works projects consisting of brick, block, stone and thin brick veneer construction in the Sacramento Valley Area of California.

We employ anywhere between fifteen and fifty bricklayers and mason tenders each day depending on project scheduling and weather conditions. The five members of the office staff have over 115 years of combined experience in the construction field.

Having a solid financial background and an excellent reputation in the construction industry ensures a positive relationship with our bank, insurance and bonding companies. We are able to provide bid, payment, and performance bonds for any size project that we choose to bid.

Prior to submitting a bid, Townsend & Schmidt Masonry analyzes the scheduling, manpower, and material requirements for each individual project. If we are not completely confident that we will be able to provide the people and products it takes to complete the project on time, we won't make false commitments to do so. This means if we tell you we will be on site ready to work on a specific date, you can count on us!

With that in mind, feel free to contact us with any questions on how we can work together on your next project. Also, click the "About Us" option on the menu (or just click here) to meet the Townsend & Schmidt team.
